Airbnb’s French counterpart was also approached by two foreign companies that wanted to buy it. But both offers were declined.
According to our information, Bedycasa, the platform for renting rooms in the home founded by Magali Boisseau, has just finalized a round of financing of more than one million euros from its historical investors, which are the founder of Park & Suites, Yves Péis (ex-PriceMinister), Michel Kubler (ex-TF1), Jean-Michel Bénard (ITS Groupe), Nicolas Machard (ex-Opodo), the Soridec fund and its founder, who participated in this operation to the tune of 100,000 euros.
Bedycasa has also been approached by two competitors interested in an acquisition, a priori American and German, but the Bedycasa management team has declined these offers. With a business model similar to that of Airbnb and created before the latter, Bedycasa had raised 100,000 euros in May 2010 and then 500,000 euros in October 2011(read the article “Bedycasa redesigns its website and raises 500,000 euros“, dated 17/10/11). The platform now lists more than 12,000 rooms in over 160 countries.
