Lucette raises 300,000 euros for its personalized beauty platform


The start-up that wants to be the “Tripadvisor of beauty” wants to recruit 100,000 users in the coming months.

The French start-up Lucette has just completed its first round of financing of 300,000 euros from business angels from the pharmaceutical and cosmetics sectors. The aim of the platform specialised in beauty tips is to accelerate its marketing investments in order to make itself known and to expand its team. Lucette hopes to recruit 100,000 users in the coming months.

Based on personalized quizzes that determine their preferences, skin type and budget, Lucette provides its users with free personalized beauty tips. The platform relies on an algorithm that calculates, from their profile, the affinity score of each woman with cosmetic products of different brands. Users are also invited to give their opinion on each product to feed the algorithm, to make Lucette the“Tripadvisor of beauty”. In exchange, the user accumulates points that allow her to access promotions for cosmetics.

Affiliation with online distributors

Lucette is still only available in beta version but already claims 10 000 users. Co-founded by Anne-Laure and Alban de Belloy, the start-up has just been selected to join theincubator of the software publisher SAP, SAP Hana. It intends to monetize itself through affiliation with online and multi-brand cosmetics distributors. Lucette also offers some users to participate in focus groups organized by major cosmetic brands.
