Sketchfab, the Youtube of 3D, raises two million dollars

The fundraising will allow the start-up, which distributes 3D models on the Web, to develop, improve its product and expand its team.

Sketchfab has just completed a $2 million (€1.47 million) round led by Balderton Capital. Partech Ventures, Borealis Ventures, David Cohen (TechStars) and a number of business angels have also invested in the company. The funds are intended for recruitment, development and improvement of the platform, and expansion of the start-up. The deal brings the total raised by Sketchfab since its inception to $2.5 million.

The start-up, which was founded in 2012 and went through the Le Camping accelerator and then the New York TechStars program, is the originator of a platform where you can publish 3D content. It is mainly aimed at creators (designers, architects, engineers). Sketchfab claims nearly 100,000 users and more than three million page views per month. The company employs 10 people in its Paris and New York offices.
